Birdsong Tag Book Beauty

I received my Birdsong tag book from Karla Nathan.  It has a beautiful cover and seven lovely tags.  Here's a photo of all the tags tied together as a book. I'll be adding one of the tags I made.  You can see why my black and white very simple tags, although cute, probably weren't the best choice for this particular swap.  I'll know better the next time! My tag was blogged about here.

A close up of the pretty cover Karla made for all of the 135+ books.  Click on the photos if you'd like to see them up close, and click on any highlighted names to see posts on their blogs about their tags.
My first tag is from Pam. In case you can't tell, there's an overlay with a bird cage, a peacock feather and the swap name.  Love the back, too.

The second is from Patty.  It has several layers and is adorned with a pearl egg and tied with multicolor fibers.  So pretty!
I apologize but I can't read the name on the third tag.  I believe it's C. Potts, but I'm not sure.  It's blue metallic stamped with black leaves and flowers, and there's a white feather underneath the world "FLY." Very nicely done!

The fourth tag is from Joanne. Layers of lovliness!

The fifth is from Katherine.  Wonderful!

Tag six is from Erica.  It's has so many fun elements.  Very pretty.
Tag seven is from Lynn.  So pretty, and I love the precious bird charm.

This was such a fun swap!  Each tag is wonderful.  Thanks, everyone!

  2. Gorgeous! I don't think I'd seen any of these except perhaps Erica's! It's so cool to see all the different creations!

  3. I took 2 coffee filters and cut them into a spiral. Then ran a thin line of glue onto the inside edge. Added a thin strip of net tulle and the rolled it up scruntching and pinching to form a rose. Then I dunked them in pale scarlet rit dye...then into cooled coffee and then back into the rit dye. Then dried in the oven on a sheet pan for about 30 minutes at 200. So easy! Let me know if you make some. I am putting them on a crown.

  4. Hi. Thanks for coming by my blog so often. I am glad you liked the painted furniture. I noticed when we moved into this house (well I actually already knew, but getting the furniture outside in the sunlight really enforced it!!) that my furniture needed some love! I guess after 5 kids, a million other kids that came by our house and a lot of animals, that it was only natural. I had no problem painting it. But really, Annie is not so fond. She thinks one or two pieces if fine. I am NOT doing the whole house, but to hear her talk I am. I find it funny! I will be anxious to see the buffet you are doing. The chalk paint is expensive, but I like to factor in my time and the fact that I don't have to sand or prime. That is worth the $$ for me! Also, I checked out the web site you directed me to. I think I remember seeing it when they first moved into the house. ($$$). I have bookmarked it and love it. I put a big old map up in my (non)formal living room. I love it. But others have questioned me. (I guess Annie comes by it naturally!!) One more thing. I was looking at all your tags, and I went back up to Kansas two weekends ago and I did a big peacock wedding for a friend. It was SO pretty! Lori L

  5. Terri, I just blogged about my Birdsong tag book, too. Guess what - we got each other's tags! I think your black and white tag is gorgeous and fits in wonderfully! If you want to see how it looks combined with the others you can see it here: http://katherineuhrig.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-birdsong-tag-book-arrived.html
